AIRBNB

We stayed at the AirBnB called Water 65 in Waynesville, NC

The AirBnB was great. Quiet, cute, private, with lots of nice-to-have amenities, and a hot tub–complete with a full set of witch’s stairs (Google it) leading up to the loft.

There are three tiny homes on the site, but no one else was there, so we had the run of the place to ourselves.

DOWNTOWN WAYNESVILLE

Within a few minutes walk from Water 65 was Frog Level in Downtown Waynesville. It’s a cute little walkable downtown area, what you’d expect to see on Main Street, USA.

There were several quaint antique shops, filled with all sorts of treasures and extremely nice folks wishing you well as you came and went.

Boojum Brewery is there, and while we ordered to-go, we could tell the place had a cool vibe–especially Gem, their downstairs speakeasy-type place that holds trivia on Thursday nights and live music Saturdays. I wasn’t feeling 100% that night, so no photos, but rest assured, the fish & chips (with homemade tartar sauce and fries) was excellent and the smash burger was a hit with Nick.

Our favorite stop was Mast General Store. They had everything from Yeti coolers to Patagonia to their own branded merch. I selected a Piggly Wiggly t-shirt and Nick got the Mast sweatshirt. There was also a Moon Pie shirt, which led to a discussion where I discovered Nick had only had one Moon Pie before in his life, and it had been so long, he barely remembered. With a taste for Moon Pie now on my own tongue, we went in search of them downstairs in the Mast candy shop. Sure enough, there they were. Easiest few bucks ever spent.
